About the Project
Learn about the goals of the St. George Tanaq Brownfields Assessment Project and how it will support the community through environmental assessments, planning, and public engagement. This page provides an overview of the project, explains the Brownfields Program, and highlights the work that will take place over the course of the grant.
Project Overview
The St. George Tanaq Brownfields Assessment Project is funded through an EPA Brownfields Community-Wide Assessment Grant. The project will identify, inventory, assess, and support planning for properties with known or potential environmental concerns while encouraging future redevelopment opportunities and protecting community health.
What Are Brownfields?
Brownfields are properties where redevelopment, reuse, or expansion may be complicated by the presence or potential presence of hazardous substances, pollutants, or contaminants. Identifying and assessing these properties helps communities better understand environmental conditions and plan for future use.
