Target Areas
Browse the project sites included in the Brownfields Assessment Project. Select a site to learn about its location, background, assessment status, and available project information.
City of St. George
The project will identify and evaluate potential Brownfield properties within and near the City of St. George. Possible sites may include former fuel, power, industrial, maintenance, dump, or landfill areas. Site selection will be based on project screening, environmental information, and community priorities.
St. George Island
The project will also consider potential Brownfield properties outside the City of St. George in other areas of St. George Island. Assessment work will help document site conditions and provide information that can support future cleanup and land-use planning.
Umnak Island
The Umnak Island target area is located on the northeastern part of the island near Former Fort Glenn and east of Mount Okmok. Potential sites may include areas affected by historic military or industrial activities. Fieldwork in this remote area will require specialized planning and transportation.
The target areas shown above represent locations being considered as part of the project. Not every target area is guaranteed to include a property selected for assessment, and final site locations will be determined as the project moves forward.
